What am I doing wrong?

DS is almost 20 weeks and is not a good sleeper (he's not regressed he just hasn't ever been)

I'm confused as to what I should be doing. My DD was breastfed and a good sleeper.

DS is bottle fed and naps fairly well in the day but a night it all goes wrong! He goes in his cot awake at bed time, chats to himself for a while and falls asleep happily - no props/sleep cues etc (seems to be what all the books go on about) but then wakes up all the blimmin time!
Last night asleep at 7.30 then woke at 9.30/1/2.30/4/5/5.30. (At which point I gave up and got up)

Should I be offering milk? Settling without? Giving a dummy?? Certainly by 3 or 4am he just wants to be up playing! (I've been ignoring him in cot while he plays and rarely he'll go back to sleep but sometimes if I leave him until he cries then he's really wide awake) when I offer a bottle he might have 2 or 3oz and then isn't interested in morning bottle.

Help! BF was so much easier as it was simple solution when my DD woke!

I'd try doing a dream feed at 10/11pm. 20 weeks seems quite young to be going through the night without a feed to me.

My oldest was a bit like this - self-settled, good routine, napped in the day etc etc and even after he had no milk in the night he still woke regularly just for a cuddle until he was 2

Oh good grief, he does like a cuddle...he's like it all day too - never happier than when being held!!

Right so feed at first wake then settle without thereafter? I'm sure I'd get more sleep if he'd take a full bottle for once! zzzzz

I'd not feed until 3 hours after previous feed

That makes sense, it's just hard to think sensibly in the middle of the night! Here's to a better night....!
