Cry it out or co sleep?

Hoping you can all help, I'm at the end of my tether!
DD is 7 months and she will not sleep through the night. I think part of this might be due to my tendency to cuddle/doze in bed with her until about 9/10am each day (the joys of maternity leave!)
She always slept in her Moses basket/cot during the night then I would bring her into bed with me at about 6 when my ex went to work.
Now we're living with my parents until I get our own place sorted at the end of the month.
Before I moved in here when DD was 6 months old I would get up with her in the night (between 0-3 times) usually at least once, and give her a feed. She did go through one blissful period of about a week where she slept through.
Since living with my parents, they have been on and on at me to let her cry it out. I found it extremely hard and it didn't feel right but my mum reassured me it was for the best long term. So it seems to have worked in the sense she only now cries for 10 mins before falling asleep but even that is pure torture for me, and I can only imagine how horrible it is for DD.
This is so rambling but basically I really want to co sleep full time but how does it work?

She is still waking in the night and I am so tired that I bring her into the bed with me. Tiredness aside, it just does not feel right to give her a little pat then lie in bed listening to her cry for the next 10 mins (at the very least). When I could so easily just pick her up and bring her in with me. I have just done this now and she went straight to sleep. She sleeps more soundly and longer in bed with me. It wasn't possible before when I was with (abusive) ex but now I have the whole bed to myself, there is plenty of room for us.

My main issues are I am obese and will I make her clingy? I have read a lot of conflicting info, but the gist I got is that the obesity is only a factor due to sleep issues such as sleep apnoea that are associated, is this right?
My mum has said 'you'll end up with an 8 year old sleeping in bed with you' and other such things.
Another point is how would she sleep away from me? If she stayed over with my mum or sister? Co sleeping wouldn't be an opti

Co sleeping wouldn't be an option with my mum or sister, any tips on how to deal with this? She does stay with them both quite often.

It's entirely your decision as parent, and if it's torture for you to listen to her cry then it doesn't sound like a good fit for you. Do make sure you are co sleeping planned with appropriate blankets etc, you sometimes find babies understand different sleeping arrangements but she might not, how would you manage if you couldn't leave her?
