Gro Bags

I've just started using a geo bag for my 19 week old.

I'd love to hear opinions / experiences of them, and pros and cons.

I'm hoping it results in a nice long stretch of sleep! :D

I've used one since 8 weeks - had no effect on sleep sorry!

DS has always been in sleep bags and I have just moved him now out of them and into duvet (but am using the Gro bedding which zips onto sheet).

He is a poor sleeper/early waker, so I don't think they necessarily aid sleep, but they are good for night feeds or if you need to take them out at night/on holiday/in car etc (I use the travel ones with slits for car/buggy straps). DS always moved round his cot a lot so sleep bags were really good for keeping him warm. He's already attempting to kick his duvet off.

We started using them a few weeks ago (DS is 15 weeks) and we found they helped him stay asleep when being transfered from feeding on me into cot, he definitely wakes less often, I guess there is a more consistent temperature etc so is less disturbed.

My LO is a huge kicker so I like that she stays warm all night.

That's helpful, thanks ladies.

My wee one slept beautifully until 3 weeks ago. She now wakes loads all night :(

Does anybody use extra bedding with geo bag? I know the point of them is not to do that, I just wondered!

No (they advise against). DS usually wore just a body underneath or footless sleepsuit if cold.

ShadowFall · 08/07/2014 18:19

I found that gro-bags helped my DC sleep better because then they couldn't kick the covers off (they used to get cold, wake up and need tucking back in after kicking covers off).

You shouldn't need to use extra sheets or blankets with a gro-bag unless it's really cold in the bedroom. We've only ever needed to do that in winter.

EmmaLL25 · 08/07/2014 19:19

I put extra blanket over during winter when it was really cold.

Our bad sleeper was neither worse not better with gro bags. Agree it helped with transfers.

You may be in 4 month sleep regression territory just now. Lots of threads about it.

Oriunda you must live in a nice warm country :) we are in Scottish highlands so nights pretty much always chilly. Prob is room very warm at bed time but cools quickly between midnight and dawn. So I can't put too many clothes on at bedtime, but she needs something once it cools.

No, London. DS' room is pretty warm though.

Jonkastique · 08/07/2014 19:59

And Emma we appear to be, thanks will follow the other threads.

Can you tell me please what is DS?!

PumpkinPie2013 · 08/07/2014 20:26

I've used them since ds was 3 weeks (now 7 months). I like them as he was always kicking covers off and waking up cold.

Also, I have awful anxiety about him getting covers over his face Sad

At least in the gro bag I know they can't cover his face.

He's slept well in them and they are good now he moves more at night.

For cold nights (winter) he sleeps in a vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog bag.

For cooler nights just sleepsuit and 2.5 tog bag or sleepsuit and lower tog bag.
