My ds is nearly 5 months. For the last month or so he's been up and ready for the day at 4.30 or 5 am , needless to say, I am not! I used to be able to bring him in with me for a cuddle then he'd drop off again, but not anymore. He is also still waking for a 3 am bottle which I thought he would have dropped by now.

He seems just as knackered as me these days, he is whiney and grizzley and naps are hard work.

My question is - has anybody found an answer to the early wakings? I know it is a very popular subject on here but unsure if there was a solution! I honestly thought he'd be sleeping longer stretches through the night by now too (probably naive of me) . I feel like he is a newborn again I'm so tired.

I really want to go back to work in September but can't imagine how I can function like a zombie

I wish my two would, I have a feeling these babies/children are going to bed late though..... good luck let me know when I suss it out then you can tell me the secret Smile

There's a sleep regression at about 5 months, hang in there it won't last. Just give lots of cuddles.

Have you tried a blackout blind?

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 07/07/2014 08:09

We have blackout curtains x

I just wanted to say I'm in the same boat although I have no answer. DS is nearly 5 months, he used to sleep 7 pm til 6 or 6.30 am but for the past few weeks he has been wide awake at 5 am. He doesn't seem hungry but he just won't go back to sleep. It's exhausting! I have blackout blinds, tried pick up put down, white noise, ignoring him for a while (just whinges and then eventually cries) - nothing works!

He has learnt to roll so I'm wondering if he's just eager to practice this skill.

Watching thread with interest in the hope that someone has an answer! If it's a temporary regression then I wonder how long it will last?!

If I had a million pounds I would give it to the first mum with the solution to this problem lol

I had this.

What time do you put them down for morning nap?

Try stretching out till 9am and only for 45mins/60mins.

Nap again at 12pm

Nap again at 4pm no longer than 30mins

I had a maternity nurse sort this routine out for me as I was going stir effing crazy!

Cured it in 3 days!! - BUT that worked for me, I'm not saying it will work for everyone.

Quality of sleep in day does help sleep at night & early wakings.

Hope this helps. If not, then arghhhhhhhh!!!!

TheJourney22 · 07/07/2014 21:22

Oh and drop the 4pm nap at 7 months!!

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 08/07/2014 07:47

Thanks journey will try this. Anything is worth a try !

Let me know how you get on, stick at it thou, don't give up.

I was close to breaking point hence I threw money at the situation & got the Maternity Nurse - she was magic.
