My 18m.o. slept through when she was 4months old, then when she was about 9months she started getting quite bad excema, she would lotterally be squirming everywhere with the itching. the dr gave us some creams and it seems to do the trick, but we had done the solly thing of letting her in our bed whilst this was all going on just so we could get some sleep and now she was on the habit of it. we decided to give controlled crying a go to start getting her to sleep in her own bed again and pretty much from the second night she was fine with it and was only waking at about 5am for a drink then going straight back off on her own. that ladted about a week and a half, now she wakes up and screams the house down and come running out of her room to us and if i try and put her in her own bed she cries even more like shes too scared of it. i tried the controlled crying again but she wont even lie down she just runs out! i tried sitting with her and shes falling asleep but keeps opening her eyes to make sure i'm there. Do you think it could be night terrors, or her playing up and wanting to just be in our bed, or could it be just because she hasnt been well (she had diarrhoea a few days ago). she was doing so well with the controlled crying, i just dont know why its changed or what i can do to help her..

I would give it a break for awhile and try again in a month. It's obviously distressing her and you don't want her to associate her room with fear.

When you try again, could you try it gradually?

Yes I dont mind starting it again, it just surprised me that she was doing so well and then this started! shes never left her room before and now shes just running out of it! :( I didnt want her to get used to sleeping in our bed again but I will let her for a little while so she feels a bit better

Could you try a put you up bed beside yours? Then move it slowly towards the door in increments? Slowly slowly eek her back to her room?
