Has anyone used a cocoonababy instead of a mosses basket?

I already have a cot bed, so was thinking about placing baby in a cocoonaby nest inside the cot, rather than getting a separate mosses basket (space is tight). I have read some great reviews of them - just wondered if anyone on here had used one and what they thought?

Wow that's pretty expensive for something that will last about 6 weeks! A Moses basket would be cheaper, and you can still put it inside the cot to save space.

We had one and loved it. DS wouldn't settle in a Moses basket at all, though. The Cocoonababy lasted him about 4 months until we got paranoid about him rolling. Size wise he could have used it for longer, and he's pretty long.

Hi beehatch I think they are meant to last longer than that! Most people say till baby is 4-5 months, so about the same as a Moses basket.

lilac did you find your baby over heated in it at all? How was the transition to cot bed? Did you use it in other rooms too?

Thanks!

We are interested in this too. Have bought one but now dont know what to put it in. We dont have room for a cot bed, and ideally wanted to use it in a crib, but havent found one where the sides are deep enough.

It looks like it might have to be a small cot but they cost more than cribs do.

We used Sleepyheads for the DTs. They were about £90 and meant they could sleep in their cot from the start. They then went into separate cots in their own sleepyheads. We've just got rid of them at 9 months and bought Sleepyhead Grandes because we couldn't bear to be without them.

He never got too hot but we were using it in the depths of winter, not sure how it would be on warm nights. It's like sleeping in a deep cosy armchair, so quite different to being in a cot with air flowing all around you. He transferred fine to his crib for a week or so at four months but then his sleep went haywire. It's a classic time for sleep trouble, so hard to say if there's a connection. In any case, we bought ours in desperation as he was miserable with silent reflux and it helped massively with that, so his bad sleep after he stopped using the Cocoonababy was in many ways just a return to how things has been before. We did use it in other rooms on the floor for naps, and it was brilliant for travelling.

We loved it mostly because it alleviated the reflux, so I can't really say if it's worth the money if you don't have that problem (and I hope you don't!).

Used it until he was almost 5 months then had to stop because of rolling. He/we loved it.

When you say transfered to his crib at 4 months, where did you have the cocoonababy before that? Just in bed with you or also in the crib?
Thanks

LilacBreastedRoller · 02/07/2014 19:27

On the bed next to me. I found it lovely, but we had been in a nightmarish sleep situation before we bought it. He was supposed to have been sleeping in his beautiful Troll bedside crib all along...

MuscatBouschet · 02/07/2014 19:34

I'm just finishing up using one with dc2 at 17 weeks. It is great and he has slept vastly better than dc1 because of it. Had it next to me on a mattress on the floor and then inside his cot. I'm very worried about the transfer to cot next week!

I think it probably is a touch hotter than a cot, but we've been fine through the recent hot spell.

Spending £100 on sleeping slightly better in the first few months is money well spent IMHO.

iamamama · 03/07/2014 20:41

We bought one as we'd heard such amazing things about them but for us it didn't work and will be selling it on eBay. Bubba just wouldn't settle in it for some reason.
Having said that, I know people who swear by them. It's quite a lot to fork out for a gamble but maybe we were just unlucky.

Chloris33 · 06/07/2014 11:14

I am also thinking of getting one (still pregnant). Does anyone know if you can put it in a co-sleeper crib that attaches to the bed. Our bed not big enough to put cocoonababy in it otherwise, I think. Also, if baby falls asleep in it downstairs before bedtime, how easy/safe would it be to carry the baby in it upstairs to place in crib, or is that unrealistic? (I will be 1st time mum so don't have much idea about these things).

okavango · 08/07/2014 02:42

We had one and loved it. I used pram carrycot downstairs so dc slept flat during the day and in the evenings we just put the coccoonababy downstairs with us and carried dc up in it later. If we stayed away from home we just put it in between us on the bed. We have a bedside cot so just put it on top. No problem transferring to the normal mattress. We had a winter baby so no problems with the heat either and you can get half the money back when you sell it on eBay so win win!Smile

muscat we live in a hot Mediterranean country, baby due end august, would you say it could be too hot for baby? I love the sound of more sleep, but do t want to fork out so much if there is a possibility of baby overheating.
okavanko how easy was it to carry upstairs-have visions of dropping baby!

It was fine to carry even with pfb on board! Trust me I was truly paranoid about most things but carrying her was simple.
