Chicco Next2me or Snuzpod?

Im trying to choose between these two. Any advice/experience?

I want to get as close to co-sleeping as possible without actually having DS (due in few weeks) in our bed. So want a crib that fits snugly against our mattress, extending the space, so I can lie next to him and scoop him over to BF.

Also looked at Arms reach but sounds as if there is a lip between parents/baby mattress so less keen on that.

We have the Bednest. Www.bednest.com
You won't get any closer as the side opens out onto your bed and so there's no gap between mattresses. We love it! We rented it to save money too. But you can of course buy one.
Good luck. x

Thank you! I looked at bed nest as my cousin had it, but wasn't sure it would work for us for some reason. I think because it doesn't fully open out onto the parents bed.

Has anyone else used either Next2Me or Snuzpod?

Hi
I have the snuzpod and I've found it to be great. Baby is right next to you without the concerns of co-sleeping. We often hold hands as he falls asleep and if his dummy needs rescuing its a straightforward task. He's 6.5 months now and think we'll still have another month of use out of it as I'm enjoying every last minute of having him in our room. But saying that if he were pulling himself up before then it would no longer be suitable.
I breastfeed and night feeds are so easy, even if like me you prefer to sit up in bed rather than lay on your side to feed. You simply lay baby back down with little disturbance.
The only thing I would note is that we have quite a high mattress so the snuzpod level is maybe half an inch lower than our bed level but that's never caused me any problem.
In summary I'd certainly recommend and would use it again Grin

They are all variations on a theme. For us it was about finances. We went with the Chicco next2me in the end. It's great as far as size and comfort go (you have to buy an additional mattress to make it extra comfy). But a word of warning, if haven't got enough of a gap space between your bed and the floor- in other words, if your bed is low to the ground- the chicco's legs won't shove under the bed. Therefore you lose the ability to pull the cot up right next to the bed and let down the side bar and benefit fully from the convenience of co-sleeping in those early months. This is our case. Still, the cot is next to the bed, albeit not right up next to me, and baby can see out of the mesh side. He seems to sleep very well in the cot, when he does actually sleep. :-) But I was looking so forward to rolling over and nursing since it is the most exhausting thing ever waking up to nurse umpteen times in a night. So unfortunately, it's not made night feeds easier for me because there is too much space between my bed and the cot to utilise it to its full potential.

I had the SnuzPod and it is definitely very sturdy and goes right up to your bed as there are no legs to tuck under. Just attaches safely to the bed and was lovely to look through the wall or to be honest I left the wall down a lot so that I could just pop my hand out to comfort little one, not that she seemed to go back to sleep that often!!!

I have the chicco next2me... Dorasee, my one has hinges on the feet nearest bed so can bend them back so cot butts right up against the bed- no issue with gap at all.. we have an ottoman so no gap btwn bed and floor.. Really pleased with it.. Agree it needs extra padding in it tho as mattress was too hard for my dd, sleeps happily in there now and we can be almost nose to nose :) can adjust top and bottom leg heights independently too so can lower bottom end so bub is on slope to aid reflux issues (which we do from time to time, tho less so now she rolls around in there)

SupaDupaBee · 10/05/2015 10:41

What mattress did u replace it with and what size fitted sheets fit on the mattress??

Artandco · 10/05/2015 10:44

The snuzpod looks good as you can take the top part downstairs to nap in during the day, so saves buying two things

Another option is the sleepyhead nest which goes on your bed but stops you rolling into them. Can go in the middle and would last longer is you had a baby sitting up early as on main bed with you. You probably need to have at least a king size bed though to give you all enough space

5YearsTime · 10/05/2015 10:47

Snuzpod is good but i don't lift it downstairs during the day. The tops actually quite heavy and if you've got it all arranged with the side down beside your bed then it's not really practical.

catg83 · 10/05/2015 14:41

Snuzpod is amazing. We love it for DS, 5 1/2 months. We don't use the top separately though. Once we had it all set up to the bed taking it off would be a right PITA.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but we're getting the Snuzpod, today in fact!... I was wondering if anyone knew whether regular crib bedding (fitted sheets, etc.) fit it or just the bedding you order from the same website; the Little Green Sheep stuff? I draw the line at spending nearly £50 PER SET on bedding which is going to get poo/vomit/wee all over it! Thanks in advance. Smile

Artandco · 11/05/2015 10:32

You don't need a whole set, just a sheet on the mattress surely? X2 sheets should be enough.

Then baby sleeps in Swaddle blanket ( large muslin) or sleeping bag

Skeppers · 11/05/2015 10:52

Thanks for that. The in-laws were looking at getting us a couple of the Snuzpod bedding sets and I told them to save their money! You're right; our plan is to get fitted sheets and then swaddle. We don't want extra blankets, etc. especially as baby is due in August and our room does get quite warm.

As long as standard sheets do fit the Snuzpod mattress (I'd heard anecdotally that not all of them did, hence my original question) I'd rather spend a few quid on a couple of those than nearly £100 on the stuff from Little Green Sheep! Smile

Artandco · 11/05/2015 11:18

If in laws buying get them to buy x2 bambino merino sleeping bags. They last newborn- 2 years, and because of material no need to have seperate winter or summer ones. They are about £60 each though (£100 for x2 on deals sometimes), so better way for them to spend £100 ish if they want to as will last ages

5YearsTime · 11/05/2015 12:55

Pram sized sheets fit. Think this is the same as crib sized? We got them in a sale at mothercare. You'll also probably be given lots of blankets so I wouldn't bother buying any!
