18 month old having night terrors

My ds2 is 18 months old and over the last ten days has screamed having night terrors 3 times. I'm fairly certain that is what he is having and go back to sleep no problems after screaming and thrashing about for about 10 min.

Can anyone share their experiences, tips or advice with how to deal with it, how long they last or how to break the cycle?

Thanks

My DS has them. They tend to come when he is overly tired. It's more awful for me as he never remembers them. I don't know if there is much you can do about them but wait until they grow out of them and try not to let him get too tired at night.

DS has just started with them. DD had them too. Not much helps here except trying to avoid him being overtired. Sadly, he's nap dropping so often cranky in an evening. I'm waiting for it to pass.

My ds also has them (almost 3), he has also added sleepwalking to the mix.
There isnt a lot you can do, you are meant to just leave them to it. I have woken/disturbed him a couple of times for his own safety.
Changes at home, over-tiredness, over-excitement etc all can cause his. Sad
Sorry not to have any words of wisdom for you. Brew

My ds had them, horrible things!

Uncover his feet, this helps regulate their temp and stope them getting too hot which can trigger night terrors.

Also don't wake him, talk to him, or disturb him. Just stay in the room till he comes out of it.

Unlike nightmares, they dont remember night terrors as they dont wake them.

if the night terrors happen at the same time each night you can gently wake them just before they're about to happen to re-set the sleep cycle. Also I found sleep easy spray from Indigo essences very good for nightmares - I believe it helps with night terrors too.

Thanks everyone. He is really tired at the moment as he is being a pickle with naps, sometimes only 20 min so I think next week I will have a week ensuring I'm at home at nap time so he has sleep in his bed not in the car, then see how we go
