milk and sleep

My dm thinks that mt ds' terrible sleep is directly related to me still bf him. He has 100ml of full fat cows milk during the day at some point and then I bf him at 6am, 7pm 10pm and 2am.

Is this ridiculous? He's one yr old and I'm back at work full time now.

What do you do and do you think it has an effect on your dd/ds sleep?

TIA

Cow's milk is more likely to cause sleep problems than your milk...

I introduced cow's milk very carefully and didn't notice any change in him. He's always been a terrible sleeper. Thank you for your thought though.

you mean he gets nothing to eat apart from 100mL of milk, between 6am and 7pm?

my dd is 8 months, and she gets:

8am bf
11:30am solids (quite a bit!) + 50-75mL milk
3:30pm 150mL milk
7pm solids (again, quite a bit!) + bf

So yes, it looks to me like your ds's intake of food is a little imbalanced over the day, since it's all packed between 7pm and 6am...

I think I would agree with your dm, I'm not surprised he wakes up to eat.

That being said, if you're happy feeding him at night, and if you're happy with his weight gain, why not?!

Chachah · 20/06/2014 18:54

and now I'm wondering if I'm not grossly overfeeding dd, lol.

Oh my goodness, no he is on tonnes of solids during the day! No worries there- he also has plenty of cheese and plain yoghurt and the vitamin drops. It's just the milk I was wondering about.

oh ok, LOL! I didn't want to be judgmental, but did think it was a little bit odd Blush

in that case, since he's eating plenty of solids during the day, then I think his milk intake has nothing to do with his sleep, per se.

he may wake up because he's in the habit of getting comforted by the boob, but it's not the milk itself that's making him a bad sleeper. If you see what I mean.

it's absolutely normal that he's still breastfeeding at his age!
