If a dream feed doesn't work, does it mean he isn't waking out of hunger?

DS2 is 9 weeks. Was wakin twice between 8-7am, sometimes 3 times. I have tried a dream feed (bf in his sleep) at 1030 and he still woke at his usual 2.30 and 5am. Last night he stirred at 12 am as I transferred him from lounge to bedroom, so I fed him. He was virtually asleep but had a huge feed. He then went on to wake at 2.30 and 5.50 am. Then woke a 8am.The first time e woke he seemed wide awake but wasnt calling for food - I fed him because I didn't want him to become completely wired and unable to wind down again.

Should I be trying to resettle without a feed at this stage?

An getting really depressed feeling this tire esp with demanding DS1 to contend with as well.

Sorry op but I think that night feeding is still very common at 9 weeks- my DS slept through at 12 weeks and was first amongst my little group and some are still waking now (6 months) and mums are starting to offer water but at 9 weeks I'd feed him. I think it's largely luck of the draw as to when your baby sleeps through but for what it's worth we've always done a dreamfeed at 10.30. Good luck op.

Are you not going to bed until midnight? Your baby's waking times are very normal for 9 weeks and they go through lots of growth spurts at this stage. I'm not sure there's much you can do about it.

I agree with Nicky, this is very normal at this (very) young age.

At six months I would be trying to resettle, but not just yet.

Sympathies. I am just coming out of the newborn phase, and also have a toddler. It's utterly exhausting.

Haha no I'm usually in bed by 930! I was attempting to stay up for the football!

I know it's normal, really I do but it's so hard when you're in the thick of it. I just keep holding out some hope that tonight might be the night and the fact that the dream feed didnt work made me think maybe he doesn't really need both feeds....

Plus 2 out of 6 baby friends have ebf sleep through the nighters by 8weeks (and no I don't think they are lying!!) not fair!
