6 month old baby has started waking up without fail at 1.15am for 2 hours! Why oh why?

Was sleeping from 7-5.30/6.00 and I was doing Dreamfeed up until 2 weeks ago when she didn't seem to want it anymore then was sleeping through as normal until a few nights ago when she has woken at 1.15 (weirdly always this time or thereabouts) and won't settle back to sleep for 2 hrs! I haven't tried giving her milk yet, do you think I should? I just don't want her to rely on milk for wake ups but maybe she needs it?? I don't know! Also she lays down and immediately rolls over, I put her back like a million times! I don't get to bed to late as I have other things I have to do so I'm a walking zombie on my broken sleep of 5 hrs or so
Pls tell me it will pass!

It will definitely pass.
Baby might be having a growth spurt or a developmental leap or any number of things.
DS did this too, but it only lasted 4 or 5 days I think.
Personally, I would give milk, at least once. Because if she IS hungry, she might go back down quicker. Don't sorry too much about rods for backs and all that, she's still v little.
Also, I wouldn't bother rolling her back! DS has slept on his front since he could roll.
Hope you get done sleep glorious sleep soon!

I know this may sound silly but is it ok to sleep on front now? I imagine if she doesn't like it she would cry? As she does when playing on mat. DH says it's still a sids risk and scares life outta me with it
Thank you for sharing as even 1 person saying they been there and offering advice lifts me with hope!

You are going to think I'm mad, but if it is the same time every night, set your alarm for 15 mins before this, go in and gently stir her, not enough to wake, but enough to disturb her sleep. Or resets where they are in their sleep cycle! It sounds insane-but 2 nights of this rest my DS from his waking at 2.45 am!

Wow so have you actually done that sweep? And it worked for you?

sweep, you are brave! I would be way to scared to try that!

As far as I know, when they can roll/are stronger then the risk is much reduced. To be honest, you can't stop them and you'll drive yourself mad trying to keep her facing up when she's determined to practice!

Good luck for tonight Smile

It will pass, my dd2 was like this. I only survived by sticking her in her bouncer chair/buggy in a darkened room with this playing while I snoozed on the sofa.

I am hoping ds doesn't try this trick too, he is coming up to that age.

SweepTheHalls · 15/06/2014 18:43

Honestly I'm not mad, it's a baby whisperer technique. It really did work!

AnotherStitchInTime · 15/06/2014 21:11

If ds follows in dd2's footsteps I am definitely using that technique sweep thanks :)
