Reflux baby sleeping on his front?

My 11week old DS has never been a great sleeper but over the last month as his reflux got worse - to the point where he is now on gaviscon - he has woken for feeds more and more until 1.5hrs sleep for me was a result. Last night I cracked. After feeding him at 2000, 2100, 2230, 0130 and then him writhing and screaming when being put back in his Moses basket, I turned him onto his front. It worked (ish) he slept until 0400, had a feed and is now still sleep at 0730. I have the warnings of doom from the health visitor and the scary SIDS leaflets in my head. Anything I can do to make sleeping on his front safer?

It's a tricky one. I've been there and know exactly where you're coming from. My baby was the same, I put her on her front from about 7 months, I waited until she could rollover.

Have you tried raising the end of the cot? Or you could put baby on it's tummy and put one of those angel care sensor mats - [http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0013FW5G8?pc_redir=1402469975&robot_redir=1]

Good luck, the two things that helped my baby were weening and putting her on her tummy to sleep.

We noticed a significant difference when we put a folded towel under one end of DS Moses basket (and then also under his cot bed). It seemed like such a small thing that it wouldn't help but it really did with us!
Now at 16weeks he has learnt to roll onto his front and we bought an angelcare monitor and he is sleeping a lot better. The monitors are quite expensive but like you I thought 'he can't sleep on his front - he's not 6 months yet!!' Babies have their own agenda though don't they?!

We had the same problem. We didn't want to put her on her tummy so we decided to buy a wedge pillow for the bed. But it did not work for long as she started to roll side ways and slip under the covers . She was still small for a Grobag and too old for being swaddled . We ended up letting her sleep in her baby bouncer. We wanted to avoid any risks associated with SIDS as it's not worth it. You must be exhausted bless you. It will get better.
This is what we used

I don't know what you can do, but my DD would roll over on to her tummy at that age, and there was nothing I could do. I just accepted it and kept an eye on her.

You can get one of those Angelcare monitors which bleep if they breathe irregularly.

Obvs the risks are higher with front sleeping, but it's a very small risk in the first places which becomes a slightly higher very small risk for front sleeping.

Generations of kids have come through front-sleeping as that was the official advice as little as about 15 years ago I think (not sure of exact dates but my little bro and sis were front sleepers).

It does increase the risk, but in my entirely non-medical opinion, it's worth weighing that up against your DS's physical discomfort in sleeping on his back - assuming you've tried obvious things like raising cot, medication etc first.

Oh yeah and give your baby infacol. You probably are using it already...
