I've posted before about 2.8yo DS and his piss poor sleep. He had sleep apnoea due to enlarge tonsils an adenoids and was waking up to 20 times a night, screaming and terrified every time his breathing stopped. He was also a very restless sleeper and has never been able to self settle, instead wanting one of us there holding his hand to go to sleep.

He had the tonsils and adenoids out 3 weeks ago and everyone thought it would be the end of all the night wakings. Wrong. He's still waking, still upset although not hysterical anymore. Still wants hand holding. His post op recovery has been great and seems to have healed really well.

I guess you could say we are at the end of out tether. Bedtimes are a nightmare. If it's me he will eventually lie down for hand holding and sleep. He does tend to bugger about for DH, so we have tried just leaving him to it which results in hysteria, and he vomited on one occasion. Any attempts at saying we'll come back in 5 min just stay in bed end in hysteria. Even trying gradual withdrawal has resulted in hysteria. With night wakings one of us ends up at some point camped on his bedroom floor as it's just too much to keep getting up - we have to get some sleep.

We just don't know what to do. I have seen on babycentre that there are some kids who have had difficulty sleeping after this type of surgery and some had night terrors. DS has had night terrors and sleepwalking both before and after surgery. I should point out he is not in any pain anymore, he's eating well and his breathing is now fantastic - no more apnoea or snoring ;thank god)

I guess I'm asking does anyone have any advice and have any if you been through this? I really hoped this surgery would sort out the sleep issues too (probably naively). Me and DH are seriously struggling with lack if sleep here. We also have a 6 mo baby which doesn't make the sleep situation any better!
