10MO takes an hour to go to sleep...

DD is a good sleeper but for the past month she has taken about an hour to get to sleep, for both daytime naps and at night and it is wearing me out a bit.

It is since she has learnt to flip over onto all fours, crawl backwards, sit up, then climb... or fall (she's not quite crawling)! I know she is just learning, but tonight she was so tired that she was falling asleep at the dinner table, but as soon as she got into the cot she was wide awake and doing everything BUT sleeping!

She doesn't sleep in the car, or the pram (we walked around town all afternoon today and no sleepy). It is becoming a real struggle to get her to nap at all, unless I sit with her in a completely quiet room for up to an hour and just try everything to get her to sleep, and this is eating up a rather large chunk of the day.

Any tips welcomed...

Sounds familiar - my DD used to practice standing up in her cot at around that time - she just thought it was great fun and that she was sooo clever. We used baby massage and acupressure to help her chill out and go to sleep. Works a treat - Here's my blog post on it - mydaughterwontsleep.com/2013/12/27/the-sleep-inducing-power-of-acupressure/

What's her routine like?

Morning nap at around 10 in her bouncy chair (again she goes in at 10 and doesn't sleep til 10:30/11) and her nighttime routine is dinner at 6, bath at 6:45ish and bed at 7-7:15.

The afternoon nap time is more sporadic, I work from home so every day is slightly different depending on whether we're in or out or if she's with Granny. Sometimes I can drive/ push the pram all afternoon when out and she won't sleep! And yet looks so sleepy! Sometimes she'll go down in the cot at 4pm and sleep for over an hour! But it really changes every day.

Maybe try the naps earlier. She could be overtired. It's a pain how they go from bouncing about to overtired in a second. You think how did I miss that!

I'd rule out teething too, if it improves with powders/gel/paracetamol that could be culprit.
