Babies first bed

Hello, not even sure I'm in the right place very new to mumsnet :-)

My baby is due in 9 weeks and I'm getting very confused about all the products out there. We have bought a nursery set, cot bed, wardrobe and drawers but are not setting these up in a nursery as we will be moving.

I obviously want the baby in my room with me for the first few months, do I need a Moses basket or a crib? What would you recommend? Also the pram I am buying (uppababy vista) has a bassinet suitable for overnight sleeping, should I just be using thus with a stand and saving money?

Any advice appreciated!

I used a crib in our bedroom for night-time. You could use the pram bassinet for downstairs sleeping during the day.

The pram bassinet could be used for the first few weeks in your room, my sister in law did this. Could your babies cot fit in your room? They don't really need a crib or a Moses basket if you have a pram.

I found it easier to keep the pram items downstairs and use the crib upstairs as it saved carrying things up and down the stairs.

We have an uppababy vista and we've been using it instead of a mosses basket. We got a cheap standard stand from mothercare for it to sit on, you don't need to get the expensive uppababy one. It was great until he was about 10 weeks when he got a bit big for it.

In your instance I would use the bassinette in the lounge for daytime sleeps and get a crib in the bedroom.

Will the cot fit in your room? Sounds like you don't need a moses basket/crib if you have a bassinet and a cot. I wouldn't bother with a stand for the bassinet, its safer on the floor. You can also put baby straight into a cot as long as you put their feet to the foot of the cot. Best of luck!
