I haven't yet mastered proper bedtime yet , I know I'm rubbish!

Every night about 7pm ds goes to sleep in his carry cot then I nappy change and feed around 10pm and we take him up with us where he settles in his cot. Ideally though, I want to put him straight in his cot upstairs at 7pm. I need my evenings back , chatting to dp and watching game of thrones ha ha instead of creeping around and shhhh shhhh to visitors etc.

I also want him to nap in his cot in the day time . Yesterday the man came to read the electric metre and ds got woken up from his nap. It's hard to creep around during the day and poor visitors told to shhhh all the time.

So far the baby has resisted all attempts! If I put him down sleepy he'll just roll around chatting til he gets cranky and cries and if I put him down asleep he'll wake up within 20 mins and start shouting .

Need help please

Hi feekerry
Well we tend to do the same things in order during the day. Feed, play, change nappy, sleep ,repeat! So after feeding him we sing songs or he plays on his mat with his toys or he sits in his bouncy chair and watches me do housework with the radio on etc. when he starts whining/yawning/rubbing his eyes I try putting him down. Sometimes he'll play with his hands or muslin til he drops off. If he kicks off I cuddle him and rock him til his eyes close then put him down. If he still protests I give him a dummy. If we are going out its much easier - he just falls asleep in the car or pram!

Since he's started rolling I've noticed he wants to sleep on his side. I know this is not the official advice but he likes to nap like this. Since I gave in to this it has made a massive difference .

Nightimes have always been easier , he's happy to just go to bed sleepy, on his back, no dummy! He'll babble for a bit first. He fights naps but not nighttime sleep.

Of course lately we've had the multiple wakings , thrashing about etc but hoping it's just a phase.
