Doesnt matter if goes to bed at 7.30 or 9! Same thing...surely its not enough sleep? We have to give her a bottle or its tears all round. Sometimes can get her to catnap in with us but usually up for the day. Naps vary, some good days some not so good but even with 2+hrs of naps she still wakes up early! This is past couple of weeks. A phase? Anything I can do to give her (and us!) an extra hour (that she used to have and need!)

Plus per another thread she is waking in the night, esp 8-11/12, sitting or standing and crying and she wont go back down on her own, we have to go back in, lie her down and shush pat etc, have to crawl out to leave as if she hears us she starts up again! She used to be such a good sleeper Hmm

My ds2 was the same, and - sorry - he still is. He would flicker his eyes, smile widely and be awake for the day at 5.30.

The first year or two, we just had to get up with him and snooze on the sofa whilst he played. After that CBeebies saved our sanity. We were gradually able to get him to sleep to 6am and then 6.30, by around the age of 5 or 6 but at 11 he still wakes at 6.30 unless he is ill. The good side is we have never had any problem getting him to sleep in the evenings!

With your dd it may be teething which is upsetting her routine, since she used to go through longer, so fingers crossed for you.

My 1 year has been the same , every morning 5.45 she will wake up regardless of bedtime , I have just accepted it now , and she goes down at 7 , at night without a problem so I don't complain too much Smile

different age, but DS is 22 months and wakes at 4:50am. Like clockwork. Every. Single. Morning. Am sure its not enough sleep (usually asleep by 8pm latest) but what can you do - if he's really needs more sleep, then am sure his body would make him just stay asleep...!

Some babies are just early wakers.... I'd take 5:30am over 4:50am any day ;)

My little Riley is closing in on 2 years now and he's usually awake around 5:30/6 regularly! He's usually in bed for 7/8 and does sleep quite well through the night.

Perhaps it's just down to bodyclock?

Hi Islington yes my ds same age as yours (on ante/post natal thread with you) he has recently started being very unsettled from 345 and awake from 530. No differrence with earlier/later bedtime, more/less naps. More difficult to settle at bedtime and sleep crawling too, WTF?

It has been worse though, a few 430 starts last week FFS. Its a double blow as a few weeks ago he slept through and I thought we'd finally cracked it. No such luck.

Christelle2207 · 30/05/2014 14:11

Oh God at least it's not just me.
Mine is nearly 10m and last couple of weeks has been waking 5.30ish (and making a real racket so no chance to ignore), once it was 4am! Unless before 5 one of us has had to go downstairs with him to play. He now wants to sleep 7-9 but we have to leave for work and wake him at 8 to take to nursery. Nightmare.

Christelle2207 · 30/05/2014 14:15

Am praying it's just a phase- he is teething atm which is definitely unsettling him a bit, also he has just started standing up by himself and im thinking maybe he just wants to practice that???!!

widdle · 30/05/2014 15:30

Yep mine is an early riser too - between 5 - 6am early bloody day!! And still waking at night - he's just turned 1.

islingtongirl · 01/06/2014 15:44

So I am not alone! I was worried 10 hrs a night isn't enough but you cant force them back to sleep can you?! Well maybe you can but not my DD Wink...I think Ill persist with earlier nights as at least that way she may get a few hrs in earlier in the eve if still plans to wake at 5.30. I do worry this will creep earlier though, aargh!

We had a much better night here, after limitting ds to 2h max naps per day yesterday- he had 1x1 h nap and two short ones yesterday. Going to carry on for a few days to see if it helps- I know the theory is that they sleep better the more they nap but I think we may have an exception here. He was waking at 5 but sleeping again 7-9 and again in the afternoon so seeing the morning nap as an extension of nighttime.
