Lots of history, 22 mth old ds has always been rubbish at sleeping, bf to sleep, co sleeping, waking every 45 mins. We've been there!

Anyway, he would, since 8 mths old, settle in cot with a dummy for naps and bedtime (before waking an hour later for bf and co sleeping) .

Anyway, for the past 2 weeks he screams when he goes near his cot, takes about 2 hours to settle and wants to feed/cuddle to sleep.

It's hell.

Anyone been through this with a nearly 2 year old?

What do I do? Leaving him to cry doesn't work but we are really struggling

Thanks

how many naps does he have? he might be wanting to drop one?

melonribena · 29/05/2014 22:16

He sleeps for exactly 1.5 hours between 1 and 2.30! I was wondering if it was time to shorten it?

Are his molars coming in maybe?

melonribena · 29/05/2014 22:22

I did wonder about teeth too!

I'm worried about creating more bad habits by letting him cuddle/feed to sleep when he hadn't done it for months

I'm back doing that after a period of self settling because LO has been ill and now out of sorts because of MMR. It's disheartening isn't it?

I keep telling myself it'll pass like every other phase!

At least I know it's not just me! It does feel like a massive backwards step when we've never really taken many steps forward!!!

So should I give him cuddles and bf or try to insist he goes to sleep in his cot on his own?

I wish I had the answer. I guess if you try paracetamol and then he settles you'll know if it's teeth.

It's really tough knowing what's best.

Calpol is a good idea, I will also try shortening the nap.

It's like he settles in his cot like always but starts screaming when on the brink of dozing off.
