Taking 2 hours to go to sleep!

My DS has never been a good sleeper but since he turned 1 he has been taking longer and longer to go to bed for naps and bedtime. He used to be cuddled to sleep but has started resisting this so I have been putting him down in his cot and he is mostly (eventually) self settling.

I thought maybe he needed to drop a nap so have dropped to one and he is still taking forever to go to sleep. He sleeps for two hours during the day and 9 hours at night. I don't think that's too much, if anything I think it's not enough!

He looks so tired when having his milk before bed but when I put him in his cot he just goes completely hyper, laughing, chatting, pointing at things etc and then gets upset then goes back to being hyper and this just goes on for hours until he eventually falls asleep.

The only things I can think of is he has reflux but I don't think it is too bad at the moment. The other thing is he is getting two molars which ties in with when all this started and we had a brief few days last week where he went to bed easily and one of the molar came through the gum about the same time. He has ibuprofen and teething gel before bed/nap I don't know what else I can do? He also bites his sleeves/ cot sheet/my top a lot when he is trying to get to sleep but I'm never sure if it's hunger or teeth? He doesn't eat much either...

Help please! I am fed up of spending so long everyday trying to get him to sleep!!

Is his room dark enough if he can point at things? We're having real trouble now the evening are lighter with our LO who used to happily sleep and not wake until the dreamfeed.

Funny you should ask that, I was thinking last night it started a few days after the clocks went forward. I have hung a blanket over the top of his blind, will see if it makes any difference tonight.

Not sure why that would make it harder for him to nap all of a sudden but maybe he has realised light= being awake or something?! Anyway fingers crossed!
