Help! My baby has been sleeping a solid 12 hours since she was 8-10 weeks, she's now 19 weeks and for the last 2 she's been up several times a night. My problem isn't the waking, I can get her back to sleep, sometimes she feeds, sometimes she doesn't. My problem is when I put her back down after about a minute it's like the startle reflex is back, she starts thrashing her head side to side and kicking her legs, wakes her self up then starts squealing (not upset just really noisey) she's always been so peaceful when she sleeps, I don't know what this is. Or how to stop it, the other night it took nearly 2 hours to settle her and tonight is looking to be similar! Has anyone experienced this kind of wriggling ??

my little boy has started doing this for the past week, he's 14 weeks.

we have resorted to ear plugs! we both slept better because after the thrashing and shouting he self settled much quicker than when I intervene. when he shouts for milk I can still hear him but the grunting/thrashing/babbling gets drowned out.

I'm glad they worked because my dp was suggesting we should put him in his own room, and I wasn't ready for that.....but we had to do something because we had 3 tired and grumpy people. we even got a 'lie in' until 7.30 this morning!

I'm not sure of the exact cause, but this has coincided with a big growth spurt and he has learned some new skills like rolling over and talking to his toys.

Yes! DS has also always been a great sleeper but recently we've had some disturbed nights. He woke up last night and wriggled and sang in his cot.....for 2 hours. He's in grobags and uses them like a drum, banging his legs up and down. He doesn't want feeding just to make a lot of noise and generally be awake. We're considering moving back into our room(we're currently in the nursery) so perhaps we won't wake up for at least some of the singing!

Oh and our other thought was that it might be teething related?? It has coincided with him only settling to nap ON me againSad and some general clingyness.

Nicky, yes and yes

banging of the feet and clinginess!
