I'm desperately looking for one. My DD is 12 months and wakes up almost hourly at night.

I want someone who can encourage a gentle method as I can't do CC.

Thanks Thanks

We used Andrea Grace who was incredibly kind. DD is not quite sleeping through yet but her sleep is so much better than it was.

Andrea's method seems to be extinction (with parent present) combined with night weaning after 6 months, followed by gradual withdrawal. There was some crying but DD was never left to cry by herself.

There is another old thread about someone who had used Andrea with success (it had "the aftermath" in the title) if you want to get a better idea of how she works.

For me, the real benefit was handing the problem over to someone else to sort out, and having weekly conversations with Andrea meant that I was motivated to keep going.

look at Ann Caird nurturing sleep
she is very popular on here at the moment - and definitely won't advocate CC or any approach you arent comfortable with
good luck

I really recommend Carla from Parenting from the Inside Out. You can find her on Facebook. She corrects sleep problems by tweaking other stuff so no sleep training.

We used Millpond but it was 7 years ago. They were fab.

Um, how you play together, for how long, ensuring the right amount of down time and together iplay time, that sort of thing. I'm tune with how much stimulation/calming your child needs. :)

Excuse typos, juggling non sleeping baby who napped too late!

Namelessonsie · 25/05/2014 20:49

So some children may be overstimulated, some may need more stimulation, some may need more parent interaction of a particular kind and so waking at night just for more interaction. Some may need more tactile play, some physical rough housing, some story making, that sort of thing.

Thanks Name!

How many days did it take for the changes to result in full nights sleep for your LO?

We used Sian Thomas at www.sleepbabies.co.uk
She does not do CIO (which was why we used her), very gentle and visited us at home. It took about 2 weeks for him to sleep through the night. Hard work but so worth it..

Simply Sleeptime. She doesn't advocate leaving them to cry and works with each family to find out a plan to suit them personally
