Hi there, new mum here. I have a 3week old and we have started a routine for night time-i know its early but start as you mean to continue and all that. We bath her at 7 (do doesn't get back from work until 6 so the hour is daddy time) feed her and then put her down for sleep, most days (5 from 7) she has slept until midnight ish then woke for a feed, I just wondered why dream feeding was (assume its feeding when there asleep) and how it works, lo doesn't seem to want to feed when asleep at moment this is more for couple of weeks time I know
Thanks in advance

Dream feed is basically designed to give you a bit more of a stretch of sleep before LO wakes for a feed. So you give them a feed last thing before you go to sleep. They should be sleepy rather than having woken hungry.

You might find the first few times LO is v sleepy and hard to feed, so you need to rouse a little, but should get used to it after time. My LO is bf and doesn't open her eyes at all but feeds well.

Littlefoot - do you pick her up to Dreamfeed?

I'm thinking of trying it as DS does 3-4 hours from when he goes down but goes to shit after midnight. Thinking a Dreamfeed might "reset" him and push the long stretch a bit later?

Of course I'm terrified...let sleeping dogs lie and all that, plus I'm going to bed as soon as he does anyway at the moment...but thinking of ways to try to get more sleep soon!

I agree Mrs mugoo, bit frightened to wake lo she sleeps in a crib so I would need to pick her up to feed her. Is 3 weeks too early too try it as still feeding when hungry etc?
