I think my 8 month old is learning to self settle !! :D

When DD was 12 weeks old her sleep just went to pot! It's just got worse and worse and she wakes every single hour of the night ( literally) and so we co-sleep. We have had a few better nights recently where shes managed some 2 or even 3 hour stretches. She's EBF by the way, started solids at just after 5 months.

I have pretty much always fed her to sleep, nothing else I've tried works other than the pram. She will not let DH put her to bed with a bottle she just gets hysterical!

Anyway, last week or so she gets v fidgety in my arms when shes done feeding and is just trying to get to sleep so I keep popping her in the cot. She'll turn on her side and do a sucking motion with her mouth as though she's trying to get to sleep but gets distressed after about 30 seconds of trying! However, last night she went into the cot, I lay her down and she sat babbling to herself, turned on her side, did the sucking thing and after about ten minutes of trying went to sleep!! It wasn't a fluke, she knew what she was doing I'm sure!! I could NOT believe my eyes!!

So, I am now very keen to encourage this self settling, has anyone got any ideas/tips on where I go from here? At nap time this morning I fed her and tried placing her in cot, got v frustrated so was fed to sleep. However she did wake up when going into the cot and managed to turn on her front and go back to sleep :D (usually turning on her front just wakes her up completely!!)

Do you think we have turned a corner here? Could this be the end to hourly wake ups?!!

Grateful for any ideas xx
