do you think she needs to drop it? Should I persist harder with helping her take it?
If I drop it then when will she stop being cranky? She looks tired at times like rubs her eyes but just won't sleep! Any experience or ideas??

The change over stage when they are dropping a nap is always a bit grim IME. As I recall it was a couple of weeks (maybe 3 weeks) of DD having a last nap some days or not having one but being grumpy (usually depending on how much she napped at lunch). Then settled into 2 naps and happy.

Having the same problem here. I normally bring ds out in the buggy / car so he can catnap. He is still grumpy by 6...I normally end up cooking dinner with him on my hip, he ggets cross when I put him down.

Just wondering how long are your child's naps? Ds generally takes 2 x 1.5 hour naps. I'm considering waking him after 45 minutes in the morning (a la gina ford) , and seeing if he takes a longer midday nap, and is a bit fresher in the evening. Am afraid though that this will turn him into a cranky little monster!

I can't keep her asleep longer than 45 mins at home, has been known to do 1.5 hrs in buggy whilst walking. She has 2 morning ones as I feel it's as she doesn't have long enough, usually one after lunch which is usually longest and always awake by 3.15. Used to have nap at 4.30 ish but this is the one we struggle with now.

If she still settles at night ok you could try dropping it?
Would she accept 10 minutes 'quiet time' in the cot? If ds doesn't nap sometimes he is happy to have a little down time in the cot, which helps keep him going.

Can't wait until he's happy on two naps! We were at a party last weekend and dh had to bring him out in the car for a drive because he was getting so cranky.

Yes she would lay in cot as she has done but she doesn't sleep just lays there cooing and holding her toes. Do you think that helps them then? Not a sleep but like next best thing? I think I need to help her nap longer than half hour in the morning to delay all other naps so the last one is a bit later but I don't know how to make her sleep longer!

Not really sure if it helps, have only done it a few times with ds and it seemed to take the edge off the tiredness. Normally I just plan a short drive or a walk for that time in the evening
