DD is 4 and a half months. She used to be good at night but has always been terrible at sleeping in the day. We've been trying to get her in a routine... She won't have any of it. We've been trying to get her to self settle...again she's not having it. Now she's started getting up at 4 or 5 am every day and despite my best efforts won't have a proper sleep in the day, maybe half an hour at best maybe 2 or 3 times a day. I'm going out of my mind and don't know what to do!!!!

Well I'm in a state of shock! Put her down in her cot with her comforter, put her music on left the room to go for a wee and when I went back she was asleep! Just like that! So she can self settle, but it's getting her to do it more often I'm thinking about now.

I found that with my DD I could get her to self settle but only if I got the timing PERFECT which was very difficult as she didn't show any of the classic tired signs.

So I'd say, try with the self settling when you're confident in the timing but if it doesn't work then go out with the pram.

Op I could have guessed your baby was 4-5 months even if you hadn't put it. Both of mine have been the same. Dd slept well til 4months then woke every few hours for ages. At 2 she is still a bad sleeper.
Ds is 4.5months and the last two nights his sleep has been terrible Sad

It's horrible isn't it? People go on about not having sleep when you have a baby but they don't tell you about how hard it can be to even get them to nap. mini that's what DD is like, by the time she is rubbing her eyes and yawning that's when she's overtired so it's like I have to predict when that's gonna happen to catch it before. Am currently sitting in the living room hoping that the same technique I used earlier is going to work again.
