Is it okay to let my 4 week old sleep through the night?!

So LO is 4weeks old and has been sleeping longer through the night for the past 5 days each time increasing by half an hour, last night she had last feed at 10:30pm and woke for next feed at 5:30am, 7hours!!! Should I be waking her? She usually goes every 3-4hours during the day between feeds and takes 4oz so she has 24oz in 24hrs.

Was she a normal birth weight? If so then I would say it's fine. Enjoy the sleep!

No, she was 5lb 1 and 4 days late, but perfectly healthy and has gained 2lb in a month! She was on the 2nd percentile but now on the 9th - health visitor was pleased so won't see her till 6/7 weeks now x

I would say no personally too young! But you will have people express different opinions

Can you ring your HV? there is no right answer IMO, do what you think is right. On one side, she would wake if she were hungry. On the other, their tummies are so tiny they need filling often...difficult one. Ask your HV.

If she's feeding lots during the day then I would let her, DD usually did 6 hours from about 2 weeks and by 8 weeks 8 hours. She ate like a champion during the day though!

Does you GP/HV have a drop-in baby clinic? Most do, why not take her along, check she's still gaining weight and then you'll know that she's fine to sleep longer. The HV/GP will be happy to do this ... Probably worth doing just incase something is depressing her appetite (an illness or condition). It is a long time for a 4week old to go between feeds, ime (4 DC) quite unusual.

Does her mouth seem dry when she wakes for food? My DD was the same (sleeping through so long) and I ended up having to just pick her up and feed her as I noticed she looked and sounded a bit dry.
The nights where she looked ok I just left her. My HV said she slept so well because she was taking so much milk during the day. That was because she had reflux but that's a whole different story lol!!!

Its recommended that babies need around 150-200ml per kg body weight or 70-90mls per pound. If shes taking this much in 24 hours, is gaining weight, plenty of wet nappies, pooing ok, otherwise healthy and happy, I'd reckon you should enjoy the sleep! No harm in asking your hv about it though.
