6MO wakes at 2.30 ..... Full stop!!!!!

What I means is - my 6mo wakes at 2.30 and that is it. Not "he wakes and I have to feed him" oh you lucky things; not "and I have to rock him back to sleep" oh if only! No, my DS wakes to start his new day at 2.30.

He's never been a good sleeper, always waking every 3 hours or so which was bad enough. I thought when we got to 6 months he would turn a corner but instead he's got soooo much worse.

Yes - we have a bedtime routine which we've had for 4 months. Yes - I put him down awake. Yes- I've tried leaving him to cry, trying to nip it in the bud, feeding him, changing him, rocking him, gentle hand and 'shhhh', putting him in our bed. Whatever I do he wakes at 2.30, 2.35, 2.39 etc and that's it.

He eventually has a 30 min catnap at about 6am.

It's killing me getting up at 2.30 every day. And to make it worse he stirs a lot before this so even if I went to bed at 7.30 every night I'd still be disturbed - last night he woke at 10 and it took an hour to get him back.

Could my DS be the only baby in the world who needs only 6 hours sleep? Should I put him to bed at 11pm?

In desperate measures I was going to try controlled crying but am worried as the point of that is you go in at different intervals to comfort your child - I can't actually comfort or settle him no matter what I do so don't know if it will work for us.

Anyway, don't know if I want advice or just to vent :(

How often/how long does he nap?

I don't have any advice but my almost 6mo wakes up at 2.30 too!! Then he wakes half hourly -2hrly from there after. So I was curious what's so interesting at 2.30

poor you, that is not a reasonable time to start your day. Do you live by a busy road, ie does any noise disturb him? You could try some white noise to see if that sees him through? Or you could google the 'wake to sleep' method. It's not for the faint hearted but perhaps worth a try.

I find my daughter, still now at 17mo, sleeps best if she's had plenty of sleep in the day time. Does your DS sleep enough during the day?

Yes you could try putting him to bed much later, like 10pm?

Or is he being weaned onto solids yet? Could he be hungry? Have you tried a filling bowl of baby porridge or similar before bed?

Ultimately in your situation I would probably just shut the door and CIO...!
