Moving to Cotbed After Hammock

Hi! My DD has been sleeping in her Amby Nature's Nest hammock since birth (now 9 months). We've never had a problem with her getting off to sleep and she slept 10 hours plus at night from 10 weeks old.
Now, of course, it's getting a bit snug! Also as she gets heavier, her sleeping position is getting more "head down", which is a problem at the moment because she has a slight cold.
We bought a cotbed about a month ago, and have gradually introduced her to it during the day, full of toys etc. She's now quite happy to spend time in there when awake, but so far has found it impossible to get to sleep!
I guess the problem is the space and lack of movement. So far I've tried picking her up, comforting and putting her straight back. Also tried wrapping my arms round her and stroking/comforting her while she's lying there (v. uncomfortable for me!!!).
The last 3 nights, I've done this for about an hour, with almost constant crying. I've then given up and put her back in the hammock.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

How about reducing teh space in it by using rolled up towels / blankets to make a kind of nest? I can't really think of anything else!

Hi Redkite, we also had an Amby for dd2 (fab aren't they? ) and had to move her out at 9mths when she managed to climb out of it!

We had problems at first putting her into her cot and the first night was terrible as she kept waking. To be honest there was no easy solution, but we just persevered and within a week she was fine.

We had been putting her in the cot for the odd daytime sleep though - maybe try that, and put her down when she's almost asleep so that she's too tired to protest.

Good luck.

Thanks!
Yes, aside from this issue (hopefully short-term!), we found the hammock wonderful.
She did have a short nap this afternoon, after 30 minutes work to get her settled.
Will try making it more "cozy", thanks scotlou
I guess I should get back to my DP and tell him not to wimp out (he's about to put her in the hammock, after hearing how long it took to get her sleeping this afternoon!)
Unfortunately he has a lower "wailing" tolerance than me - DD only has to wimper and he's in there, picking her up etc. But that's a whole other issue...
