What time do / did you put your 6 month old to bed? & what time do they get up?

Exactly that... Interested to get a picture of babys' bedtimes, and wake times. NCT friends' little ones all seem to go to bed later than DD, and we're suffering with early morning waking!

Bedtime for us is usually 6.30-7pm, wake time between 5-6am.

Fairly similar bedtime: asleep between 1845-1915, up for the day 0630-0700. This is not counting the 98 wakeups in between.

Nearly six months. Wind down about 7, sleep anytime between 8 and 9. Wakes up about 7:30am (not inc night-waking).

Bedtime has always been 9pm with 8.30/9am wake up. At 6 months we still put in crib in lounge at 9pm, then moved into cot in our room at 11/12 pm and fed then. We hate mornings!
It's perfect for us as can eat together as a family in the eve, go out etc without them shattered. They have always napped good in day also

I would def move yours back. If you aimed for 8pm bed I would say day would roughly be:

7.30/8am wake
9.30am - 1 hr nap
1-3pm 2 hr nap
5-5.30 30 min nap
8pm bed
11pm dreamfeed if needed

Ps also make sure the room has good blinds/ curtains so its staying dark after 5am and feed often enough in day (still bf every 2 hrs in day at 6 months)

DS is 7 months, its impossible to keep him up after 6.30 usually (and last night was in bed at 6). Also wakes between 5 and 6am, I usually try to get him back down for a bit and sometimes manage an extra hour Confused. When we've managed to keep him up till 7/7.30 its not made any difference to the waking time, only thing I noticed was when he was waking for a feed about 3am he would then sleep till after 7. Don't really want to go back to that though!

Ok great, thanks for you replies! Very interesting - I think we could definitely afford to do bedtime a bit later, I'd be totally happy with a 7am wake up, even 6.30 - it's just 5am that hurts too much!

I guess we're lucky in only having one waking for a feed in the night. The clocks changing will help though won't it? Everything will be an hour later? We do have a blackout blind but it doesn't totally cover the window - might have to do a double layer!

My ds was sleeping from 8pm to 9am from 7 weeks. If he was put to bed at 7 though he'd wake between 3and 4. And he wanted just 30mls right before bed despite having been fed 15mjns before

WhizzPopBang · 27/03/2014 18:58

That's interesting Miracle, presume you didn't do a dream feed then, by the sounds of it? We do, at around 10pm but I don't know whether it helps much - I worry it slightly disrupts her sleep pattern.

My LO is slightly older at 1yo, but goes to bed at 6:00 (won't last much longer) & wakes between 5:30 & 6:30. We're using this weekend, when the clocks go forward to change his bedtime to 7pm and hope for wake up between 6:30 & 7:30. U could try that.

MamaPingu · 27/03/2014 20:35

DS is 6.5 months and has slept through for 12 hours since 11 weeks after a couple of weeks hard work with routines!
He goes to bed at 7:30pm and wakes at 7:30am usually.
We've had a few times where he's been teething badly and he's been up a few times in the night for calpol or teething gel! But mostly he sleeps well
