Those light show projectors

Have they helped anyone?

DD is 7mo and currently a co-sleeping, boob-truffling little piglet. Gradually introducing the Pantley pull-off and planning soon to introduce a book after boob at bedtime to stop feeding to sleep. I thought that a light show might help to distract her as she falls asleep but I do have a tendency to assume that throwing money at problems will help. Any experiences and would you recommend, and if so which one(s)?

Thank you!

Didn't work for our DD the light show just got her all riled up and excited, we changed to a simple music box that plays Mozart with nature sounds, she can now put it on herself if she chooses she's nearly 2 Smile

Good lord, I bought one, it was horrendous. I may as well have given ds a can of coke & a bag of skittles. The thrash version of twinkle twinkle was a personal highlight. And the soothing lights were like a disco. Ds loved it, it was the first time I heard him shriek. Took it back the next day......

We have a Fisher Price Ocean Sounds one and it really soothes DS and gets him into a drowsy state post - boob.

If he needs a nappy change in the night and he's sometimes a bit upset it also calms him down then too.

Only downside is that if I am also in bed (he sleeps in cot in our room cause of living arrangements!) when the Ocean Sounds are trickling away, I find myself dying for the loo :)

another one whose dd is overstimulated by the light show... She kicks, dances and shrieks with laughter when its on. We use it in the mornings now sometimes when I want a shower and she's already awakeGrin

My reservation with this sort of thing is if they only learn to talk asleep with light.show are you prepared to have to put it on several times a night to get them back to sleep?
If so my sil liked the tomy Minnie the pooh one!

We don't use the projector to get baby to sleep, just to get him relaxed and drowsy. It's just another part of the nighttime routine I suppose.

A bit - but it was a light up sea horse/lullaby thing so no projection. I used it sporadically for naps (feed dd, wind then into cot while I sorted her older brother). But mainly I would rock her a bit and pop into the cot and she'd drift off on occasion. Sometimes she didn't so I would go back to feeding then try again another day.

The one that gets them riled up and excited sounds like the Early Learning Centre 'Blossom Farm' lullaby projector light show. I've just checked it out for my nephew, taking it straight back tomorrow. The music is horrible, and too fast - 6 tunes, but it'll only play one on a loop, till you change the settings. The side light is too bright and changes violently from one colour to another like a disco light. I thought the ceiling projection was quite nice, but that's all. 'A good idea, poorly carried out', as my husband just said.
It also has a voice activation feature which might be quite handy but it's very difficult to figure out quite how long that works for before it goes onto standby and stops responding; there are no instructions with it.
I'm thinking of ordering a Babymoov instead:
