Urgent - sleep positions at nearly 11 months old

My son is nearly 11 months old and has, up until now, always slept on his back. However, this morning i went into his room to find him lying face-down in the cot! When i turned him over, he was still fast asleep. Should i be worried or not? (sorry, 1st time mum!) Thanks, NM x

my dd is 8mths and sleeps in a ton of different positions. I dont worry too much as I know she can move herself back etc.

no - I assume he is quite mobile by now? Babies sleep in all sorts of strange positions. My DD started sleeping on her front around the same time she started crawling. She sits up during the night, cuddles her teddies then flops down onto her front and falls back to sleep again.

As long as he's fairly mobile I wouldn't worry in the slightest. My dd sleeps in all sorts of strange contortions, most of which look hugely uncomfortable but she obviously doesn't mind! By this sort of age they'll just find a comfy position for themselves.

Thanks Guys x. (I suspected it was a case of me being paranoid again! Merrily - i'm pretty sure he does the same as your DD, as he's recently started crawling, and the other day my DP went in to him at 4am to find him sat up at the end of his cot, teddy on lap, playing with the fish on his dream show which he'd somehow managed to switch on!) I think most babies go through a stage of sleeping on their tummies. So long as they can hold up their heads and roll back again there's nothing to worry about (there's not much you can do about it if they can't roll back again, of course, other than spend several weeks fretting).
