Toddler waking throughout the night - EXHAUSTED!

Sorry for the caps, I'm simply exhausted. My 18 month old has never been a great sleeper but goes to bed without issue and when he wakes, we can soothe him and he'll go back to sleep.

For the past week, he has been waking in the night and taking an hour to get back to sleep. He wakes crying and seems very upset. He doesn't have a temperature, is eating normally, toilet habits normal. What on earth could it be? He's just finished antibiotics for yet another ear infection but isn't showing any signs of another.

I'm back at work and doing 5 days a week with a long commute. I'm exhausted and need to resolve this. Any thoughts would be welcomed - thank you!

P.S. If he struggles to settle, we bring him into bed with us (plenty of space, not too hot, not to cold etc) so he gets cuddles etc but STILL wakes crying.

Thanks isitme1; you must be absolutely knackered - you have my sympathy.

To have had such interrupted sleep for a week is making me very very brittle. I'm so snappy (understandably of course) and starting to feel so down :-(

Ditto.
I've been an utter bitch but it's tough.

Ive been trying ds with new bed routine which helps for a few hours and then hes awake again.

DS 21mo has been doing this since before Christmas and I am on my knees. The last few night I have been leaving him to it unless he is really crying and not just whining for me to go to him. Last night he cried out four times and I left him. He went back to sleep. Woke at 6.30am. Hope he catches on I am not going to go in and accompany him for 1-2-3 hours each night.

Definitely go back to the gps to rule out medical causes.

Apart from anything else he is likely teething, molars come through at this age usually.

I presume you have tried calpol at bedtime?
