Help for a Friend

Hello All,

My best friend from ante-natal is having an absolute hellish time with her 15 month old dd. Since dd turned 1 she has not been sleeping well at all. She screams when they put her in her cot and then periodically wakes up during the night and screams for anything up to 2-3 hours. They have tried what seems like everything (ie rocking her back to sleep, controlled crying, changing food habits, grobags etc etc).

Does anyone have any advice on what she could try or anyone she can talk to? It breaks my heart to see her so tired and so stressed and I just don't know what to do to help.

Many thanks in advance - I just want to see my friend smile a genuine smile again.

Could teeth be the problem? That and getting a "chill" are the only things that cause that really shrill crying with my ds.

[Chill means body temp dropped to 35.5 at night and ds couldn't warm himself up again, had to get a hot water bottle out and more layers on body]

Do night dreams happen around this age? Could it be a nightmare?

It's hard to advise as it's not your friend posting with full details of what she's tried. But there WILL be a solution. Has she thought about trying a sleep clinic? They would be able to give v. detailed advise and a plan to follow. I think they can be a bit costly, but sometimes the hv clinic can help if it's a good one. My friend's clinic has a sleep clinic attached and it helped her enormously.
