Hi mummy's!
I hope someone can help me because I feel like I have the only baby in the world who doesn't sleep during the day! DD is not following any kind of pattern, This is what happened today...
7am-8am Wake up and feed
8am Playtime until 9am...she started to yawn so I tried rocking her to sleep for 20 mins, then I turned the hoover on to give a bit of noise and rocked her after 20 mins she finally fell asleep, I put her gently down in her moses basket but 5 mins later she was wide awake again.
I played with her again until it was time for her next feed.
11am I decided to visit my mums house and I thought the car would help her sleep... it did for the 5 mins we were in it then she woke up again.... anyway these catnaps continue throughout the day, I can never put her down without her waking up and I feel like I can't do anything!
Has anyone else had a baby that doesn't sleep during the day?
She sleeps 8hrs at night which I am obviously grateful for though!

The Docs diagnosed her with 'colic' a few weeks ago but after a few sessions with the osteopath she definitely doesn't scream like she used to.

Is there anyone else out there? lol

Hi, often a yawn is a late signal of tiredness so she may be getting too tired then can't sleep. My DS was similar when that age so I had to watch carefully for earlier small tired signals and go by clock.
If she's waking at 7 and going until 9 start watching carefully from 8:30 for her becoming a little less interested in playing, a distant stare and avoiding eye contact. Then try putting her down. A little routine will help to teach her it's nap time too such as a song and saying a key word like nap time. Also some young babies just want to sleep with mum, theres no better place so make time for sharing a nap with her or use a sling so she can nap on you while you do some jobs.

Thank you Helenc19 I think I will try that :-)

My baby is 7 weeks old too - her nap times totally vary but I'm just letting her sleep on me during the day as she wakes if I put her down! It's hard getting anything done! She will sleep in her pram but only out and about.

I'm very jealous yours sleeps 8 hours! What do you do before bed? Is she breast fed? Any tips?!

I was too scared to take mine to an osteopath in case they damaged her but I have heard good things about that. What do they do exactly? Mine had bad colic/reflux/wind and screaming sessions, they have got better though.

Oh and you could also try swaddling if you don't already, my DS didn't need it at first but had to start swaddling him at about 8 weeks old.

Dd1 was like this, she only ever had cat naps.

She did sleep very well at night so I felt that did make up for it. She was sleeping for 7 hours from about 12 weeks. I used to put her in a sling during the day and carry her around everywhere.

Dd2 was very very different- good long naps during the day but I was still feeding her during the night when she was 11 months. So it's all swings and roundaboutsSmile
