Co-Sleeping Question...

When co-sleeping - does the baby sleep in your arms/on you or next to you in the bed? Or a combination of these things? I guess I'm just wondering what the norm is.

Next to me, head at nipple height, my arm above and leg knees up below (under 6 months).

After 6 months just whatever position really, next to me rather than cuddled though.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't "doing it wrong". DS and I usually both fall asleep with me holding him & his face is usually buried under my boob... then when I wake up (inevitable) I try and put him next to me on the bed. Sometimes I BF him while laying on my side and him lying next to me - but I never know what to do with the arm I am laying on...

I get such sore elbows though in the night from holding him so much. I try to stretch my arms out as much as possible & also have been taking the odd paracetamol.

I was struggling with this too op but now put both of my arms bent so that my hands are under my chin/cheek and find that ds is happy to have my skin next to him. Hope that hhelps but you're definitely not doing it wrong!

I also struggled with finding a comfy position for ages but now I have my pillows, then I have DS's head on quite a flat pillow (he's 12 mo) but at the top of that pillow, ie at the top of his head, I have a memory foam one that I've kind of morphed into a tube shape so that when I lie on my arm/shoulder it's high enough so my head is still supported. It's kind of comfortable! I also manage to lean further over him to feed from other boob now too. Spent ages swapping sides after each feed so that I didn't have to move DS and once he fell asleep after a v quick feed I'd shuffle back into a more comfy position Sad

Pretty much what lilyaldrin said. DD is 3 weeks old.
