what is an 'early riser'?

dd is almost 11 months.

morning nap of about 25 mins (i wake her);
and then lunchtime nap of 2 hours;
she goes to bed at 7;
and wakes between 5.45 and 6am, and then on off moans until 6.30, when I get her up.

I obviously wake at 5.45/6am, when she does, and then lie there awake until 6.30.

is this an early riser? It certainly feels like it when I initially wake, but overall I would not regard myself as being sleep deprived at all.

I have heard that if they get in to a habit of early waking when really young, then it lasts into childhood.

thanks for any advice.

Early riser = before six.
My ideal wake time for dd would be 7am but she wakes any time between 5.30 and 8.30 (regardless of naps). We dont get her out of bed til 6/6.30 if she wakes before.

How is your LO when you wake her after 25mins?

absolutely fine. do you think that might have something to do with it?

No no, just seems like an odd time limit to have - generally their sleep goes in 45mins waves so they are at theor lightest sleep at each end of the 45mins and deep sleep in between - so essentially you are waking her at her deepest sleep - I would have thought she would be grumpy and take a while to.come round after it.

Obviously not Grin

It's just that Gina Ford said for early risers, try initially waking them a little earlier from their morning nap. I did find that when I started waking a little early from the morning nap, the lunchtime nap became a solid 2 to 2 hrs 15min long, which saw her through really nicely until bedtime with no overtiredness.

Thing is, when she wakes, she is obviously still tired because of the on off dozing until 6.3/. Then, when I get up at 6.30, she is in a delightful mood and remains that way. I just wish we could stop the 30/45 mins of moaning. Any reason why?
