my 9 week old has never napped in her basket, only on me or in the pram. but at night she would go 2-3.5 hours in the crib, waking for food. she used to have to be I a v deep sleep before putting down, but it was getting easier.

on Friday I started to try to get her to nap not on me, through pick up when she cries, put down when calm. it was not successful and through Friday and Saturday she only managed a couple of 20 mins and was exhausted. Sunday we abandoned as she was tired and miserable as was I.

but. last night and tonight she won't sleep in her crib. tonight she did 45 mins and woke herself at the end of her sleep cycle. I am trying to calm her and wait till deeply asleep. last night at 2 I brought her into our bed.
have I broken what good sleep habits she had? what can I do yo get us back to what now looks likes a brilliant place. I have bought a sling now for the day and happy if she has to nap on me for now but what about the nights? for I feel so guilty

Dont feel guilty! She's 9 weeks old and to be honest babies change all the time. This might have happened regardless. I know its really hard but try to relax and go with the flow. Have you tried one of those hammock ( ours is a natures sway) things for daytime naps. Took my dd a week to get used to it but I've napped her in that since she was 3 weeks she's now 6 months and still naps in it.
I wouldn't start doing any type of sleep training until she us at least 6 months this is what most 'experts' say.
If you looking for gentle things you can do to help her sleep try the no cry sleep solution. Good luck she'll probably be back to normal tomorrow.

I hope so, the rest of the night was bad too. I tried putting her down deeply asleep, lightly asleep, awake and patting.

she did have her jabs last Tuesday, was sleepy, then grumpy till about Friday. could that be related?

My DS is 12 weeks and has changed his sleep routine more times than I can remember, I used to try and figure out if I'd done anything differently but never could.
Having said that, his routine did change after his first jabs but not after the second ones.
