Getting DH to do it - does it have to be forever? And is it cc?

'Baby' rapidly coming up for two and still taking hours to go down at night. Literally hours. I've been feeding her down and it's just taking longer and longer and she's popping on and off, trying to play instead etc.

Anyway, tonight she made herself sick after an hour of feeding and something just made me think emough's enough and I got DH to take my place and just shush her to sleep instead. This is totally new to her - she's been fed down every night since birth? Predictably enough she screamed the house down, but half an hour later she was down.

Two questions, if we manage to set this up as the new routine - her going to bed with dad instead of me, am I going to be able to switch back again in the foreseeable future? Apart from me not wanting to let go, DH has to work away sometimes so sometimes I'll have to do it.

Second question - if she's crying but DH is there with her is that cc or cry it out? I don't want to damage or stress her out, I just want her to get some sleep! :(

In my opinion, there is a vast difference between CC/CIO and a 2 year old learning to go to sleep with daddy instead.

We did similar with DS around then, took less than a week before he was pushing me out the door at bedtime and wanting DH (he wangles more stories out of him, I think). Was the best thing we did as I could actually go out again in the evening.

Good luck!

I think Dr sears says it's not classed as cc or anything like that. I don't think I'd be too worried at that age! you could try short feed from you and Dh take over?

on the other hand I think I'd just dive in. maybe give warm milk to drink too though? or cocoa?
