Anyone know a good sleep trainer who DOESN'T advocate CC? Ideally london based.

I've gone back and forth on whether or not I can live with DD's bad sleep and I'm starting to think I can't :(

Does anyone know of a sleep 'trainer' who might be able to give advice or a programme? Am in london...

The only thing I categorically will not try is any form of controlled crying... I have researched a few sleep trainers who all seem to suggest their own versions of it as one option... I am at a low ebb and really really don't want to spend a couple of hundred quid to be offered any version of CC. It's just not my thing and frankly I've got enough well-meaning but over opinionated people in my life who keep telling me to do it. Don't need anyone else for that!

Other than that, I'm open to any suggestions!!

Cake baby it may be worth a chat with her at least, she really does seem so nice and understanding... Don't know what your baby sleep issues are but she seems v experienced!!!

OP I'm interested to know how you're getting on as I have the same issues as you with my 11 mo DD. Did you sign up for some counselling in the end?

Yes let us know how you get on Emerald, good luck!
I remember you from another thread, my DS is 11 months.

If it helps, his sleep has massively improved in the last month. I've been doing gradual withdrawal - no crying at all - and last week he's gone down perfectly, woken extremely briefly at around midnight (I hear a peep or two on the monitor but then silence as he's gone back to sleep on his own). He used to need resettling or feeding at that time. He wakes again at around 3.30 or 4 - feed and then straight back to sleep, then through til 7am.

It might not sound great but it's SO much better for us/him!!

Hope you get some results with the consultant!

Helo Willo and Jackie!
Yep, have signed up for some help with the sleep stuff - it's v v early days as only started on Saturday but there are already a couple of v tentative improvements - she is easier to settle in her cot when she first goes to sleep (30 min marathons of wriggling now taking only 10 mins max) and she seems happier when she wakes up. I'm trying out white noise as suggested and can't be sure yet whether that's making things slightly worse rather than better - I had, bizarrely, a couple of better night just before we started the 'training' (by which I mean only a couple of brief wakes; bliss by our standards) and since starting the white noise it's been bumpier and back to the usual thing of either multiple wakes or one v long one...
But am feeling MUCH better about it all, it's so good to have a plan and I'm actually amazed (a little scared I'm jinxing it) by how things have improved with the first put-down.
Jackie - I have a friend whose 11 m old has JUST started sleeping... I'm happy for her her but terrified the same won't happen for me as then I'll be the only person I know who admits to having a bad sleeper...

Hi Emerald, thanks for the update and great to hear that you're already seeing some improvements.

On the strength of the recommendations I read in this thread, I've also signed up with Ann (I'm assuming you went with her in the end?). It would be great to give each other encouragement if you'd be up for that. I start the sleep work on Monday and have signed up for the six week package. So hoping this helps end almost a year of sleep deprivation and nightly frustration....
