So how do we keep him in bed?

DS is 2.5 and recently we took the sides off of his cot. After the initial novelty of being in a 'big boy's' bed wore off, bed time became a nightmare and he constantly gets out. We've found no sure solution to keep him in bed and honestly we're at our wits end. So please any suggestions will be gratefully received!!

Hmmm had no problem with my dc ( not helpful I know!) but some friends have found a bed guard to help as a deterrent. Depending on his maturity what about a reward chart for if he stays in bed? Stickers to build up to a present? We found this great for potty training??

We're using a bed guard. I'm not sure a reward chart would work, I'm not sure he'd get it. I'll give it a go though! Thanks for your reply Smile

It's worth a try, my dc was about 2 1/2 when we used the sticker chart for potty training. Hmmm other than that I would just say preserve, out him
Back to bed without talking and keep doing until he gives up??!!

We we t through absolute hell for sbout 4 minths with our DS not staying in bed. Nothing worked but we kept up with rapid return after speaking to the health vidiyor as she thought he was just trying to push the boundaries. He eventually stopped messing around and started staying in bed and sleeping all night again after being really poorly with chicken pox. None if this is probably that helpful but 'this too shall pass'.

I have a child gate on the bedroom door, so if mine do get up they are safe, also less exciting to get out of bed if theses no where to go. Had to do this as put my little girl in a bed at 18 months as she could climb out of a cot and wouldn't understand rewards or anything
