DD has just turned 2 and has turned into the sleeping child from hell ! She has a very good routine (usually), she will wake at 7-7.30 have a 2 hour sleep at lunch time (1-3 usually) and then bed time at 7.30. However for the last 3 weeks she has woken every morning between 6-6.15 and is wide awake ready for the day ahead. At first I thought it was maybe the light so have put a blackout blind in her room which made a huge difference to the darness of her room but absolutely no difference whatsover to her sleeping.

Any suggestions anyone ? Am 5 months pregnant and working full time so trying to cope with the lack of sleep is really taking its toll. DH can't help out as he leaves for work before DD even wakes in the mornings, although we do take it in turns at the weekend to get up with her so we both have a lie in at some point.

Maybe wake her up at 2.30pm, so she has less slepp and wakes earlier.

It may take a while though.

Some children just wake early all the time. DD2 is usually up by 6.30. She went through a phase of waking at 5.30. That's a killer!

Don't think that will work Littlerach but thanks for the advice.
She doesn't have this afternoon sleep everyday, I try and do it most days but sometimes we are out and about and its not do-able so not sure cutting it down would particularly work.
Feel like a walking zombie today and the heat is not helping

You'll have to go to bed earlier then .

Maybe she's getting you ready for when the baby arrives.

If you both get up early, can you have a nap together around midday/early afternoon? Would make sense in this weather, and you could enjoy the cooler parts of the day. Don't get too hung up on bedtimes and routines if you don't have to.

I'd treat it as a nighttime waking, ie offer a drink of water and get out of there.

Put her in front of cbeebies and go back to sleep.

Maybe Littlerach!

Tootricky - I work full time so having a nap in the afternoons is out for me unfortunately.

Bakedpotato - Have tried this, I give her fresh juice, make sure she has her dummy and if she is really bad even give her a book to play with but I just get "muuuuummmmmyyyyyy" shouted at me over and over and over until I go an get her, she's even taken to reach over ot her bedroom door and pretending to slam her hand in between her cot and the door just to get me to go in there.

Bluejelly - would love to but the only TV with CBeebies on in downstairs and it would mean her being downstairs alone

Ho Hum, I'm just destined to be exhausted I think, thanks for all of the suggestions though
