Questions about the Cocoonababy

Hi all.
I'm trying to find out more about the Cocoonababy before I buy one. What I've read on the internet all sounds great but it is quite expensive and I worry it wouldn't get used for long before baby becomes too big for it. I'm not keen on Moses baskets and everyone I've spoken to said their LOs didn't sleep well in them. Am also considering renting the NCT bed nest as an alternative.
So any recommendations anyone? Is anyone particularly evangelical about the Cocoonababy or the bed nest? Also, does the Cocoonababy need to go in the cot (which would restrict easy access in middle of the night) or can it just go next to your bed on the floor? I would feel a bit mean just putting the baby on the floor though!
Thanks in advance :-)

Hoya, I may not be the best advocate because I bought a cocoonababy and am not really sure it's been worth it...

I often put in on the floor in the sitting room durin the day (or if we en up sleeping there where it's warmer and less disturbing to DH) and doesn't seem to cause any problems doing that.

My LO has always been in the cocoonababy at night, so no idea if she'd sleep better elsewhere, but it doesn't seem to produce the miracle results is expected from online reviews! She sleeps alright but not brilliantly really :-)

Any more specific questions I'm happy to help with, but don't have a bed nest so can't compare

There are some reviews on the mumsnet product pages. However some of them (the ones showing on my phone at least) read like they may have been written by the company...

I googled it out of interest, would be intrigued to hear from anyone that's tried one

Haven't tried cocoonababy but as far as Moses baskets go check out the shnuggle. My DS settles well in it it's not creaky like wicker baskets and is bigger than traditional ones. After having DD in a rickety old swinging crib (DH's family heirloom) the shnuggle is excellent in comparison. Just a thought if you're still undecided OP.

I got one when DS was two weeks old hoping he'd sleep better there than in the basket, but he hates it! Literally cries every time we put him in it. Total waste of money (for us).

However my cousin swears by hers, used it from very beginning and thinks her DD felt more secure there than in a basket. (Which is why I got one!)

So guess it depends on the baby. Sorry that isn't more helpful...

We hired the bed nest and so far 18 day old sleeps as well as can be expected in it! It is great to be able to reach out to him and just pull into bed to feed without having to get up. Also good that you can raise the end if they're a bit bunged up or windy.

Hi,
Just to confuse you, I had a cocoonababy for DD1 and she ADORED it - slept, well, like a baby from the start and I used it all day whichever room I was in - it's safe and comfy. I put it in the little cot thingy at night and never had trouble picking her up and transported the whole thing when I needed to get things done during the day!
I suppose it depends on the baby. My friends borrowed mine for her DS so that she could test it before she bought and he hated it! Do you know anyone who has one that you can borrow?
