7.5 month old constant night wakings

I've also posted in breast & bottle feeding as not sure if this is solely a sleep issue or feeding issue.

Ds2 has never slept through & had woken for 2 feeds a night for a few months (which was a huge improvement from where we started) bat illness when it all goes to pot but would eventually settle back down. Over the last week or 2 things have been getting progressively worse with more & more frequent wakings. Tonight it took nearly 2 hours to settle him, he then woke up 3hrs later wad fed put back down, awake within 30 minutes rocked, cuddled & given calpol as thought could be teething - wouldn't settle so was fed again & had woken again 1hr later. Tried to cuddle/rock back to sleep but he wasn't having a bar of it, throwing himself around & getting agitated so had been fed again. None of the feeds are particularly big feeds either although he is swallowing. Usually by 5 or 6am he ends up in bed next to me. The other night we tried this from around 4am but he wanted to constantly suck & kept getting very annoyed if my boob moved away from him so was hideously unrestfull.I'm on my knees with tiredness & could literally cry with the exhaustion & frustration of not knowing what's wrong with him. My patience is wearing thin which makes me feel hideous as he's just a baby & can't help it (I hope!). I'm at a complete loss as to what to do & starting to feel quite desperate about it now.

It could be teeth, sometimes calpol is ineffective. I've found with my 9 month old who has been really shit with sleep lately, that good naps are crucial to at least semi-reasonable night-time sleep (which at the moment is waking every two hours instead of every hour).

During the day I'm doing whatever it takes to get her to have two decent naps - one in the morning around 9, and one after lunch. She would wake sooner if I put her in her cot, so she sleeps in my arms. If she wakes after 45 minutes, I feed her straight away to try to get her back to sleep.

If her afternoon nap isn't well over an hour, that night's sleep is doomed.

Thanks for replying & sorry your lo isn't sleeping well either. I think the lack of sleep in the day isn't helping at the moment. He usually had a good afternoon nap which is on average anything from 1hr to 2.5 & is on me (no matter how asleep he seems the second you put him in his cot the eyes pop open instantly!) & is spent with me feeding him on & off - he seems to really need to feed if he's lying down but on my shoulder he does a lot better & doesn't need the feeding. I'm wondering if his reflux is flaring up with the teething? Have been advised by my GP that teething & illness can have an effect on it after a particularly shit bout of sleep that coinsided with 2 colds in the space of a month along with teething. It was horrific.

Think I may give doctors a call to check ranitidine dosage & start that again.

Teething can last for so long, you seriously question whether there's some other underlying reason. It was like that for DS. We suffered bad sleep from 5months to about 10months. When the 4 top teeth appeared, sleep improved markedly. It was such a relief! For DS too.

I'd wonder if 2.5 hours in the afternoon is too much sleep. DS can't sleep if he gets too much or if he wakes too late (3pm is absolute max for him).

Hi, please see my post about the robopax baby rocker! I went through exactly the same and this really worked for me! Worth trying as its only £25! X
