Does every baby experience 4 month sleep regression?!

I keep reading that it all goes terribly wrong at 4 months.. My DD is 13 weeks and sleeps most nights from 7-7 with a dream feed.
I'm now dreading this stopping! I know teething can create sleep issues but does the 4 month regression happen to most babies? Hoping it skips mine lol!!!

No, not all. You may be lucky and sail through, but be prepared for it just in case. We rode it out from 3.5 months for about 5 weeks (co-sleeping, DH getting up with DD in mornings so I could lie in bed for an hour, etc) then did gentle sleep training/ changed bedtime routine to help DD learn to self-settle. We then moved Dd to own room at 5.5 months and that made a massive difference.

No not all babies do. As city says you might be lucky and sail through it

DD started her regression at 3.5 months and lasted about 7 weeks.

Unfortunately there isnt just the 4 month regression....but many more also! I was just about to post a question about the 18 month sleep regression!

Whatever happens just remember that its only a phase and tell yourself that as often as you can to get through it.

Unfortunately they dont sleep well forever but one day they will be old enough to just pick up a book to help them drift off and then we'll be sad because they dont need us anymore!

No - babies differ a lot. I've no idea whether DD did or didn't, but she didn't suffer much from teething, which seems to be unusual so there must be some babies that don't have the sleep regression thing. DD has had patches of waking more, but I wouldn't have labelled them anything in particular.

No, I heard about sleep regression and dreaded them, however, we are yet to experience them.

My twins are 12 months old and slept 6pm-7am (dream feed at 10:30pm) from 11 & 14 weeks and I can count on one hand the nights that were disrupted with teething & colds etc. They dropped their dream feed at 8 months and since them have slept 6pm-7:30am everyday. Both can self soothe back to sleep.

I know how lucky we are and thank my lucky stars everyday Grin

Agree with all pps. No. Ds1 - no regression, good sleeper, could self soothe with use of dummy and easily went back to sleep. Ds2 - 4 month regression lasted a good 2 weeks, good sleeper once he's down but difficult to get in cot (he would prefer to feed to sleep and stay exactly where he is, as soon as he's put in co the wakes up).

No - DS never had a sleep regression. He was an appalling sleeper as a newborn but by around 4mo he had started waking just once per night and it state that way until around 5mo when he started sleeping through.

Fingers crossed it skips us then!!! I keep thinking it's too good to be true for her sleeping so well at night. The realistic me says it's got to go wrong soon!!!!

Im sure you'll be fine. Even if it does go wrong at some point it will only get better again
