4mo with totally irregular night wakings?

DD2 wakes a few times a night but there is no routine to it at all, some nights it's 11.30 and 1.30, sometimes she sleeps until 2 and then wakes and wakes again at 5. Does anyone else's baby do this? I find it a bit wearing as although she's waking less its so unpredictable when she'll wake. Now she often chats for some time in the night too, so it takes longer to settle her.

Sorry, she's 5 months old. Oh dear.

I had one that did this. I take it as a good sign that they are waking up because they are hungry, rather than because of habit.

The chats on the other hand, no advice there, that would be annoying!

Yes, no rhyme or reason to my DD's (5.5 mo) wakings either. Nor what time she wakes up for the day. It makes things really challenging. Not least because I find it hard to fall asleep before she's done her first wake-up (which can be anything between 10pm and 2.30am).

I've toyed with the idea of introducing a dream feed, but I don't want to mess up her sleep anymore than it is already.

One thought OP - is she in your room? I finally snapped last week and put DD in her own room after one night where she lay next to me (she'd been in a co-sleeper crib prior to that) blowing raspberries and swatting at me for an hour at 4.30am. Now I sometimes hear her burbling away next door in the small hours, but I just cover my ear with my hand!

I don't know if she's that hungry, she doesn't take long to drop off again. city we did a dream feed with DD1 and then spent until she was 2 and a half trying to stop her waking at 10.30 every night and demanding snacks. So I decided not to bother this time. DD2 won't take a bottle and won't bf in her sleep anyway so I think it would be tricky. She is in my room, yes. One more month to go and then we will move her. I think I probably wake her up with moving about as much as anything. But the thought of having to get up to feed her at night it a bit grim really. Catch 22!

My 14 week old is like this totally irregular. I thought it might get my milk supply mixed up or something?
Anyway no answers but am in the same boat.

You know what, I also resisted moving Dd to own room for fear of having to get out of bed to feed, but it's actually fine and, oddly, hardly disruptive at all. I bring her into my bed to feed and then go and put her back in her cot next door when she's done. I think I actually get more sleep as I'm not disturbed by her snuffling around. So I now don't wake up until she's properly awake and crying out for us and I fall asleep while she's still settling herself back down.

We're in the same boat, totally random. I thought he was getting into the habit of waking at 1am & 4am (could almost set your watch by him) as he would wake then regardless of when his last feed was, then the night before last he woke at 11:30 to feed and went til 5am, yay! Then last night back to 1 and 4......until the 4mth sleep regression he was so reliable it is totally maddening to be back in the land of random especially as you have no idea if they are hungry or not. Have no idea what the answer is but I feel your pain.

City - I want to stick it out to six months and then will move her and set up a bed in the room with her just in case. Am hoping it will be ok.

Little - it's tricky isn't it? Two steps forward one step back!
