changing unit above cot

Hi,
I wondered if people leave their changing unit on the other end of the cot bed when their baby is in the other end? My baby is 9 weeks old, so tiny, and it is a pain taking the tray off every time she naps, when she is no where near it at the moment and couldn't possibly pull it down. What do other people do? Thanks,

I moved mine and just propped it up next to the cot. But then again, my babies had cribs in my room before moving into their own cot in the nursery so it was an entirely different situation.

I left it on permanently until dd could sit up. What is the problem with leaving it on?

I just read that you are supposed to take it off when they are in the cot, for safety...

I never take mine off, Ds is 8 weeks.i was going to take it off when he can sit up, but even then he would be lower down then so might still leave it on.

I took it off when DD could roll and lift her head up (cot was on highest setting). Made sure it was firmly tethered till then.

my 4 month old doesn't seem to have sleepy cues for her naps. She just starts crying, I try to read but she cries so I put her in her pram and she bawls for ten minutes before falling asleep, not very pleasant for either of us! Is this ok though? Is she just upset because she is tired? Help?!

I left it when my DD was very young. I don't think I took it down until she can sit up. There's no way a little baby can pull it down, can there? Also, DD was in a cot bed, so it's very large. There isn't a chance she'll overheat if the cot is not as 'airy' as it should be. And it's winter anyway, so what's the chance of overheating just because you have a cot top changer on there?
