5 mo barely naps... Not satisfied?

Hi all,
I have just joined :) I am just curious as to werher other mums have experienced their babies only napping 2/3 times a day... For 30/40 mins max. My DD still yawns after her naps, but over all is generally happy. (She was regularly rather fussy for the first few months tbh!) I am worried that because she is a big baby she is unsatisfied with the food/milk she is getting. I have her on 3 meals a day and she still has 4/5 bottles a day (this includes a dream feed) I am slowly dropping her bottles. (HV knows and is ok with this) Im just wondering wether the lack of sufficient napping during the day could be hunger? She sleeps through the night however... I dont want to force feed her more solids to get her to sleep longer obviously... So I guess ill maybe have to up bottles if it is hunger... Or rather just not being fully satisfied by meals. Sorry for the ramble. Hope someone can help? Maybe it is just habit with her and not food related!? Thankyou :)

Napping sounds normal at that age, so long as she isn't hideously overtired and grizzly the rest of the day.

Is there any particular reason you are dropping bottles? At 5 months old that sounds like a really bad idea as milk should be the main source of nutrition, not solids, up to a year.

Thanks noblegiraffe! I often hear her napping isnt idesl though! But i guess if she isnt over grizzly i shouldnt worry!... Its just i obviously desire the best for my baby and more napping time would probably be ideal as she is still tired with current pattern. Im not dropping her bottles completely, just cutting down general milk intake as she is very sicky/ refluxy/ big baby so the milk can sometimes make things worse ... I was giving her about 7 bottles a day of 6-8 ounces, now she is on solids i find she doesnt want as many bottles and is less sicky/ happier baby. The amount of flyids she was having was bagging her up and since cutting back a bit i have noticed a big improvement ( i did consult the HV on this matter) I will not give her less than 5 bottles a day though ... She can stay on this amount a while longer- her solid intake is just an added extra to her diet - being a responsibls mother i am obviously aware milk is her main nutritional source, thanks...

Having read my initial post i can see i wasnt as clear on the matter of milk/ solid intake ... Sorry. Basically she slways has 5 bottles ( ocasdionally 6) i meant 5/6 bottles a day not 4/5! Ooops!

Ah, when you said you were slowly dropping her bottles I wasn't sure that you weren't planning to get rid of them altogether!

If she is sleeping through the night then I really wouldn't mess around with daytime naps too much, it might muck up the night time sleep! Also, if she were hungry, she'd be waking in the night to catch up on her milk.

Yes, sorry. I meant slowly as in months rather than weeks!! Thanks for the advice :)

My dd used to nap for 3 x 40 mins a day, then 2 x 40 mins a day. She also used to only sleep for 10 hrs at night so in total had less than 12 hrs in 24.
I fretted a lot.

She was always fine, healthy, not grumpy etc. I wish I hadn't worried about it, it was just the way she was made!

When she dropped to one nap at around 18m, she started napping for 2 hrs. It was bliss! (Now at age 3 she is awake from 6am-7pm and talks constantly for the entirety of it!)
