Worried about 6 month old's sleep

DS2 will be 6 months on Saturday. I'm really worried about his sleep, he's never been great at it.

As a newborn he had silent reflux which wasn't diagnosed until 8 weeks old so until that was properly under control we really struggled to put him down to sleep. The tt causing the reflux was treated at 14 weeks & he had a 4 week course of cranial osteopathy which seemed to really help.

He started sleeping from 8 / 9 at night to 3 / 4 when he'd be fed, then wake 6ish when I'd feed lying down as ds1 wakes any time from 7 onwards.

2 weeks ago he got a stinking cold & just wanted to be cuddled & fed all night as couldn't breathe lying down. He's also teething. The cold is now gone & sleep is very slowly improving at night in that he actually goes in his cot but wakes up 2 - 3 hours later after first being put down, then 'wakes' (is fidgeting, really unsettled, shaking his head, kicking his legs all with hugs eyes closed) nearly every hour after that. Either me or dh cuddle him & put him back down. If you don't cuddle him he does wake up & can sometimes be cuddled back to sleep (this is slowly getting better - last night we cuddled & put back down until 4am).

Daytime naps are crap. He just doesn't seem to sleep much. Sometimes he may fall asleep in the car or pram but often not. His biggest daytime sleep is around 1pm ish when ds1 had his nap & can be anything from 20 minutes to 2.5 hours. If we try & put him down he wakes up instantly, doesn't matter where. He may or may not have a power nap of 20 - 30 minutes early evening (sometimes he'll stay to dose & ds1 will drop something loudly).

I'm worried he doesn't get enough sleep & that his night sleep is so unsettled.
Should I just put this down to teething / after effects of his cold or is it something more?

Sorry it's so long.

Any suggestions anyone?

Bumping this as 6.5 mo DD is almost exactly the same. I have put it down to teething but most nights painkillers not doing an awful lot. Last night she woke 9 times Confused

End up feeding back to sleep just to get some rest.
