My Dd has been missing her lunchtime nap off and on for months, but has now not had one for about 3 weeks...She's fine at lunchtime, just has some quiet time, but she gets really ratty late arvo...a friend siad this wears off after a few weeks...any similar experiences?

I'm jealous, my almost 3yr old dropped his naptime at about 13 months and refused for another one. I would suggest that you keep up the quiet time, sitting reading a book, playing quietly so she gets time to recharge, I'm sure there will be times when she still sleeps but the fighting it and rattiness does disappear. I do that with mine little ds. He's doing well now and is at pre-school for three hours every afternoon - vacation now mind you.

Cheers Alipiggie, I know I've been really lucky that she slept at lunchtime for so long...Ds 1 is now taking over the luchtime nap slot, and it works out well as at one stage he was having mid morning, mid afternoon naps, whilst dd was sleeping at lunchtime....entire day spent lurching from one nap to another.
I was just concerned for a while the narkiness was some joyful new stage in developement, it seems to be easing...

Agree keep with the quiet times. I used to insist DS went to his bedroom and looked at books for about an half an hour to an hour. This was good because at one point we had to reinstate it which would have been harder. Also will be good for you if DD is having quiet time (emphasise "big girl" aspect of this) and DS is napping you can have a break.
