Getting a child to sleep when it's light/hot outside.....

DD is in a phase at the moment of taking forever to fall asleep. I can often hear her talking/singing to herself a full 90 minutes after I've put her to bed. I know she's tired, because of circles under her eyes, yawns and cranky behaviour, but somehow she just can't settle. Maybe the heat, or the long/light days are the problem - but there's not much I can do about that.

Are yours the same? Anyone got any tips? She's 5.6 btw....

Bath before bed, no TV later than 5pm, a wind down zone for the last 45 minutes before bedtime when you do the same things in the same order every night...black out blind/fan in bedroom?

Just be grateful she is not crying!! I bought a cheap fan from Argos and that seems to help a bit. Makes the room less stifling (sp?) I usually turn it off when I go to bed.
